Anthony  D  Buckley

Tony Buckley is a writer interested in anthropological and philosophical matters. Formerly, he was a curator at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum in Cultra, Co Down  where  he was responsible for collecting and researching aspects of the community life of Northern Ireland.  His particular interests include ethnicity, religion, Freemasonry, the Orange Order, friendly societies and other brotherhoods.

 

He is interested too in the study of ritual and sport. Before coming to the Museum, he worked in Nigeria among the Yoruba people writing a prizewinning book on the topic of their traditional medicine and aspects of their religious life . He currently has a position as Honorary Senior Research Fellow in Anthropology at the Queen's University of Belfast.
